From September 23rd to 25th, the Capriccio group spent several days in Paris for a productive research stay.

On September 23rd, the group visited the “Institut Jean le Rond d’Alembert” at Sorbonne Université at Paris. There, a presentation about “Multiscale Simulations of Polymers with the Capriccio Method” was given at the “Séminaire Mécanique des Solides” of the working group of FRASCAL’s Mercator fellow Dr. Laurent Ponson, followed by a fruitful discussion. Hereafter, a tour through the fracture laboratory was given, showing highly interesting projects on understanding the mechanics and physics of fracture.

The Capriccio group used the remaining days of the research visit to intensify and specify its collaboration with Fabrice Detrez from the Laboratoire de Modélisation et Simulation Multi Echelle at Université Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée. After a seminar on multiscale modeling and simulation, in which the Capriccio group and the individual projects were presented, a promising discussion on possible joint research projects followed.
