91st Annual Meeting of the International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics
Another important conference was held from March 15th to 19th, 2021: Rather than as actually scheduled in Kassel, the 91st Annual Meeting of the International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics took place as an online conference via Zoom. Nevertheless, the Capriccio group represented by Christof Bauer and Sebastian Pfaller had many opportunities to present the current research and, most important, various occasions to get into contact with other scientists working in related fields. Christof’s talk on “Aspects of adaptive discrete-to-continuum modelling of thermoplastics” addressed his ongoing activities to introduce adaptivity into the Capriccio method and discussed current challenges in this regards. Furthermore, Sebastian provided an overview of our improvements of the Capriccio method in his presentation “Recent advancements of the multiscale Capriccio method for polymers”. As for the WCCM held in January, we missed the social get-togethers and the face-to-face exchange with other people, but we are confident that the 92nd annual meeting will take place as a classical on-site conference in Aachen!
