On November 26th, 2021, the “1st (virtual) FRASCAL Symposium” took place in an online format. There, principal advisors (PAs) of the research training group 2423 “FRASCAL” and guest speakers gave insights into their research. Sebastian Pfaller as the PA of FRASCAL’s project P6 represented the Capriccio group and presented current advancements and challenges in the group’s research of multiscale simulations of polymer fracture. In his talk, he introduced the Capriccio method briefly and gave an overview of the first coupled mode-I fracture simulations recently conducted. This initiated a fruitful discussion, which also stimulated continuative considerations both for the method development, but also in view of later experimental studies.
