Project thesis: Sebastian Reber
We congratulate Sebastian Reber who completed and successfully defended his project thesis on polymer nancomposites with grafted nanoparticles. He implemented a numerical tool in LAMMPS to create nanoparticles with surface grafting inspired by the techniques used in polymer synthesis. Based on this, Sebastian generated polymer samples and thoroughly investigated the influence of grafting density, filler size, and filler content on the stiffness and strength of a generic polymer nanocomposite. His work is another important contribution to our research on interphases in polymeric materials at the the nanoscale and extends our capabilities towards filler particles with surface treatment.
We wish Sebastian all the best for his further master’s studies.
