On May 25, 2023, Sebastian Pfaller and Felix Weber visited the Müller-Plathe Group at the Technische Universität Darmstadt. There, we had a fruitful discussion on fracture simulations using coarse-grained molecular dynamics models.  In a first part, the general applicability of (generic) coarse-grained molecular dynamics models was addressed, which included a summary of important properties these models have to exhibit for a fracture simulation to be physically and chemically sound. After an enjoyable lunch break in the city center of Darmstadt, a second part followed, in which the PULS Group from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg took part via Zoom. Here, we thematized ways to implement physically motivated bond breaking criteria into the molecular systems. We cordially thank our colleagues of Müller-Plathe Group for welcoming us at their institute and look forward to our next meeting.
