From July 31 to August 2, we met for our annual Capriccio mini retreat. This time, it was dedicated to a sophisticated review and further improvements of the Capriccio method.
The first day was reserved for a summary of our current research activities and to an overview of the current state of the art in the field of atomistic-continuum coupling. The second day, two separate groups focused on concepts to overcome limitations of the Capricio methods with particular focus on scale bridging fracture simulations of polymers. Due to the bad weather conditions, we had to skip our traditional hiking tour in the late afternoon. Instead, we had very fruitful continuations of our discussions. The third day focused on future research activities and a general assessment of our mini retreat.
