We congratulate Johannes Roksvaag for successfully finishing his Bachelor’s thesis titled “Improving the Performance of the
Capriccio Method by Migrating to the Open-Source Programming Language Julia”. Johannes migrated the Capriccio method, which couples molecular dynamics domains to finite elements, from Matlab to Julia. His implementation achieved three important objectives: First, the Capriccio method now fully relies on open-source software, increasing its accessibility and reusability. Second, by revising the coupling condition, he increased the accuracy of the coupling method. And third, through his smart implementation, he achieved a significant speed-up compared to the previous Matlab code. Consequently, Johannes’ bachelor thesis is an important milestone for the capriccio method and enables more advanced investigations.

We wish Johannes all the best for his future studies.
